May 1, 2002: One of the two adolescent red-tailed hawks that were gently retrieved when their nest was blown to the ground during a high wind storm. They were a few weeks away from being able to fly on their own, so they were taken to Ojai Raptor Center where they were nurtured, taught how to hunt, then released into the wild. For days on end following the incident the adults hung around the tree, crying and looking for their babies.
