• 2/22, Los Robles open space trail, and a very warm afternoon hike. Some flowers are showing signs of profusion: wild cucumber, blue dicks, purple nightshade. I saw a bunch of fushia flowers in bloom on a hill but I couldn't get close enough to id them
• 2/22 blue dicks (wild hyacynth) Los Robles open space trail
• 2/22 on a warm breezy afternoon on the Los Robles open space trail 2 ravens were enjoying hanging in the air and gurgling.
• 2/22 Two ravens were hanging in the air enjoying the stiff breeze
• 2/23/16 paddling this afternoon - a really nice early spring day, warm but not too warm because of the very light cloud cover. The rookery is starting to show activity. Some cormorants are already sitting on nests, making their gurgling nesting sounds. I saw a few GBH's sitting high up in the tree, seems to be their chosen spots for nesting, but I couldn't tell if they were in the process of building a nest or just waiting for their mates to show up? I watched a cormorant fly in with a twig for the nest, take several laps around the tree each lap a little wider to get the 'landing' just right, and then as soon as he deposited the twig with a little mutter, off he flew to find more. It's intense. The calls of cooper's hawks, red shouldered hawks, RTs are in the air.
This afternoon I found out that John will have a 2nd surgery to drain the fluid build-up in his brain from his fall on the ice earlier this month. I believe his first fall occurred on January 30th, his 1st surgery on 2/3.
Gary Ericson put up the 'for sale' sign in the front yard this afternoon. It's happening. We close on 224 Plancha on 3/11
• 2/25 a very warm - hot- late morning ride in Sycamore. John's surgery went well yesterday to drain the fluid (2nd surgery) and this morning I briefly spoke with him.
I saw 3 ravens flying when I was biking on Wood Ranch trail today. It was so hot!
• 2/24 a ride along Chesebro
• Boney Mountain, Sycamore on a very hot bike ride 2/25
• 2/25 This green won't last but it sure looks dreamy now. Hidden Valley
• 2/25 a very warm ride in Sycamore. Coming back up that hill was tough in this heat
• 8/26 a warm day but not too hot, a bike ride before noon out to potrero, climbing the hill and then returning, then a paddle a happy hour with some welcomed cloud cover. A swan is in front of John, took off because it was pushed out of its space by another more aggressive male swan. And a common goldeneye sighting on the lake, my first! Other than that, a very quiet happy hour.
Brother John continues on in recovery with the drain taken out this morning and won't be discharged for a few more days.
• 2/26 I think I saw a goldeneye - male - but paddling again on 2/27 he was nowhere to be found
• 2/27 it still was warmer than normal today, an attempt to do more of Mulholland resulted in turning around and riding up Lobo Cyn, and it was certainly more comfortable, especially to get out of the crazy traffic.
