2/23/16 paddling this afternoon - a really nice early spring day, warm but not too warm because of the very light cloud cover. The rookery is starting to show activity. Some cormorants are already sitting on nests, making their gurgling nesting sounds. I saw a few GBH's sitting high up in the tree, seems to be their chosen spots for nesting, but I couldn't tell if they were in the process of building a nest or just waiting for their mates to show up? I watched a cormorant fly in with a twig for the nest, take several laps around the tree each lap a little wider to get the 'landing' just right, and then as soon as he deposited the twig with a little mutter, off he flew to find more. It's intense. The calls of cooper's hawks, red shouldered hawks, RTs are in the air.
This afternoon I found out that John will have a 2nd surgery to drain the fluid build-up in his brain from his fall on the ice earlier this month. I believe his first fall occurred on January 30th, his 1st surgery on 2/3.
Gary Ericson put up the 'for sale' sign in the front yard this afternoon. It's happening. We close on 224 Plancha on 3/11
