• 1/24 marbled godwit malibu lagoon/beach
• 1/24 snowy plover at the beach, only 8,000 of these exist. They are very hard to see hunkered down in the sand.
• 1/24 a very bright and rufous-y allen's hummingbird. Almost looks like a rufous. Malibu Lagoon
• 1/24 these sweet little (about 7-8 altogether) were resting in the sand at the beach at Malibu Lagoon. There are only about 8,000 of these in existence.
• 1/24 mature brown pelicans and gulls hanging out at the beach
• 1/24 surfers, gulls, brown pelicans, cormorants all enjoying a beautiful Sunday morning at the beach
• 1/24 a neighborhood bike ride included Old Agoura and this doggie was walking alongside the horse and rider.
On a short afternoon walk with the boys to the little green slope by the bridge I saw bluebirds, yellow-rumped warblers and a very excited sighting of about 30 cedar waxwings, many of whom were eating the orange berried off the pyracantha. They are such beautiful birds! I saw a cooper's hawk also, the 'resident' cooper's hawk that often hangs out there.
• 1/24 one of the majestic oaks in Cheseboro
• 1/24 Malibu Lagoon on a clear Sunday morning, a SM Audubon walk. A notable sighting was a merlin, pintail ducks, green tealed ducks, snowy plovers, brown pelicans
• 1/24 a very rufous-y allen's in Malibu Lagoon
• 1/24 Allen's in Malibu Lagoon
• 1/25 And it's always fun to hear and see ravens in Sycamore Cyn. One of these ravens was making a melodic knocking sound and I looked up to see these two. I saw a flicker, an acorn woodpecker, heard a nuttall's and saw several small birds, juncos and white crowned sparrows. I didn't have my binos with me. We flushed a RT hawk from off the ground off the trail.
• 1/25 a beautiful day to ride
• 1/25 favorite loop in Sycamore Cyn, parking at Sycamore Cove and biking in from the beach
• 1/25
It couldn't have been any nicer along the coast today. What a beautiful day to mountain bike in Sycamore Cyn! Temps probably mid to high 60s. Saw a kestrel and a great egret along PCH near Cabrillo State Park! Also in the afternoon I saw the 'resident' bluebirds on my neighborhood walk with the boys as well as cedar waxwings, yellow-rumped warblers.
• 1/26 parked down at Cabrillo State Beach today and climbed Mulholland in the morning (starting out at 10:15am) Very little traffic and it was a beautiful day, slightly santa ana winds, but in the upper 60s, maybe 70 degrees today. This is the view from the top of Mulholland. I saw a Monarch butterfly in the parking lot!
On the afternoon walk with the boys in the neighborhood I saw cedar waxwings eating the orange berries of the pyrocantha, as well as the resident bluebirds, yellow-rumped warblers, a cooper's hawk.
• 1/29 a field trip to Mugu Naval Base in Oxnard with the CVAudubon Society, met at 7:45, ended at 12:25pm. A gorgeous non-windy, sunny, day with temps reaching mid to high 60s. Since no photos were allowed on base this is a picture of the santa monicas from the oxnard plains on Potrero just before the climb back up to T.O.
