Mt. Baden-Powell Trail, June 20, 2010

Mt. Baden-Powell Trail in Angeles Forest, west of Wrightwood off of Hwy 2, is one of the highest peaks to hike up to in the San Gabriel Mountains in the Angeles Forest, west of Los Angeles. This 8 mile hike climbs up to 9399 feet, from a starting elevation of 6565 ft. At the summit are some of the oldest limber pines in So. Cal. It's one of my favorite hikes. Today the weather was stellar, temperatures in the low 60s, cloudless sky, little to no wind, and even on 6/20, snow along the northern slopes near the summit! Whitty and Billy did a great job climbing and descending this trail.

  • There were several patches of snow as the trail got closer to the top and large patches of snow still on the north facing slopes!
