Solo Show 2019
Atascadero Library Exhibit March-May, 2019.
What I’d like you to know about me as you view a sample of my art exhibited at the Atascadero Library: That I am a lover of nature and wildlife and growing up with a couple of acres of woods behind my house in Northern Virginia informs who I am today. I am a published poet and a fairly recent self-taught mixed media artist now living in the hills of Arroyo Grande.
I have always felt an immediate bond out in the woods under a canopy of trees immersed in the sounds of nature. It’s this lifetime of being outdoors, whether in remote wilderness areas, or in urban open spaces that allow for quiet, reflective observations of the natural world that ushers a sense of wonder and an immediate curiosity and awe in nature’s secrets. It carries over into my art in exploring and having fun in the creative process, reveling in the discovery and surprise. I never aspire to capture realism, rather, a sense of spirit or even whimsy.
Those who view my work inevitably share a personal story my pieces evoke. I believe these pieces have stories to tell us.
After all, every creature has a story to tell. And as others openly share their personal stories my art elicits, it’s yet another reminder of how connected we all are.
Thank you for taking the time to view my art. I look forward to hearing your story.
